The term 'environmental science' refers to a grouping of scientific disciplines that are all concerned with the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the surroundings in which organisms live.
Environmental Science provides an overview of how science affects our environment. We focus on interactions between the solid Earth, its water, its air and its living organisms, and on dynamic, interdependent relationships between these four components.
Environmental science promotes the study and understanding of natural and human-caused processes in our natural environment. By researching and investigating complex environmental issues, students develop and enhance essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
Sciences used in environmental science include geography, zoology, physics, ecology, oceanology, and geology. Environmental science also branches out into environmental studies and environmental engineering. It provides an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to the study of environmental problems.

There are five major biomes found in the world: aquatic, desert, forest, grassland, and tundra. From there, we can classify it further into various sub-habitats that make up communities and ecosystems.

Humans need microbes to stay healthy, and microbes need the environments provided by the human body to survive. The human body is an ecosystem. It is home to trillions of microbes. Different species of microbes live in different places in and on the human body.
