Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit
Overview of Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) Also known as a Cat Cracker, the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) is a piece of refining equipment used to convert the heavy portion of crude oil feedstock into lighter petroleum products, including liquified petroleum gas and gasoline.
Residue fluid catalytic cracking (RFCC) is used for upgrading heavy feedstocks to light products such as gasoline.
Carbon is deposited on the catalyst during the cracking process. This carbon, known as catalyst coke, adheres to the catalyst, reducing its ability to crack the oil. The coke on the spent catalyst is burned off, which reheats the catalyst to add heat to the FCC process.
Catalytic cracking is a process in which complex hydrocarbons are broken down into simpler molecules. Catalytic cracking breaks complex hydrocarbons into simpler molecules in order to increase the quality and quantity of lighter, more desirable products and decrease the amount of residuals.
Accordingly, it refers to a place (center) with the facilities for cracking naphtha to produce basic petrochemical feedstock. It is called the Naphtha Cracking Center or Naphtha Cracking Plant. As technology advances, not only naphtha, but also diesel (Gas Oil) and natural gas are used as feedstock to produce ethylene.
1. cat cracker - a chemical reactor for converting oils with high boiling points into fuels with lower boiling points in the presence of a catalyst. catalytic cracker. chemical reactor - an apparatus for holding substances that are undergoing a chemical reaction.
A crude oil cracker is the part of a refinery and the equipment used for changing crude oil to its fractions, using heat and pressure. The crude oil is heated in a crude oil cracker to vaporize the hydrocarbons and break down the molecules. The oil is sent to a crude oil cracker where the molecules are broken down.
Cracking is important for two main reasons: It helps to match the supply of fractions with the demand for them. The supply is how much of a fraction an oil refinery produces. The demand is how much of a fraction customers want to buy.

Explanation: Pinging is the other name of knocking. Cracking means the process of breaking the higher hydrocarbons into simple atoms. Doping means adding impurity to a pure metal to improve its conductivity. Crushing means divided into small pieces.
Define cracking. The thermal decomposition of higher hydrocarbons into lower hydrocarbons in the presence or absence of a catalyst is called cracking.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. An antiknock agent is a gasoline additive used to reduce engine knocking and increase the fuel's octane rating by raising the temperature and pressure at which auto-ignition occurs.
Octane number is also known as octane rating. Octane numbers are based on a scale on which isooctane is 100 (minimal knock) and heptane is 0 (bad knock). The higher the octane number, the more compression required for fuel ignition. Fuels with high octane numbers are used in high performance gasoline engines.
The research octane number (RON) is defined as the percentage by volume of iso-octane in a mixture of iso-octane and n-heptane that knocks with some intensity as the fuel is being tested. From: Fundamentals of Petroleum Refining, 2010.
The motor octane number (MON) describes the behavior of the fuel in the engine at high temperatures and speeds – a full-throttle range, comparable to driving fast on a highway.
