Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow
Now, the story of Epcot (which stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) goes back much further than its 1982 opening. According to Disney Tourist Blog, Walt Disney dreamt it up in 1966.
Epcot was originally an acronym that stood for “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow,” and it was actually the initial reason for coming to Central Florida. Walt not only wanted to build a larger Disneyland with no space constraints, but he wanted to try to use some of the technology his team had developed in a ...
EPCOT is twice the size of the Magic Kingdom, and spans 300 acres. The park is the third most-visited theme park in North America. EPCOT is also the world's sixth most-visited theme park. Walt Disney inspired the concept for EPCOT, but did not live to see its completion.
Marty summarized the symbolism behind this iconic image: “The Epcot Center logo symbolizes unity, fellowship, and harmony around the world. Five outer rings are linked to form the shape of a flower–a celebration of life.
The colored stripe matches the pavilion logo's color. On the left of Spaceship Earth, we have flags for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Mission: SPACE (Horizons), Test Track (World of Motion), and Play Pavilion. The left also has flags for Journey Into Imagination and Harmonious.
Epcot is home to the World Showcase, which consists of 11 pavilions representing countries from around the world, including Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, the United States, Italy, Germany, China, Norway and Mexico.
Guests are allowed to bring outside food and nonalcoholic beverage items into the park for self-consumption, provided they are not in glass containers and do not require heating, reheating, processing, refrigeration or temperature control and do not have pungent odors.
Since you cannot eat and drink as you walk at this time, I recommend finding a bench close by to enjoy your food or beverage before heading off to the next country.
Where can you drink at Epcot? You can find drinks at all of the Epcot restaurants. There are also drinks offered at select quick service locations and kiosks throughout the park.
Viking Coffee is a scrumptious combination of Bailey's Irish Crème, Kamora Coffee Liquor and coffee. This liquid heaven can be served either hot or cold and although it may be the first time you pass this way, it definitely won't be the last.
And it takes you to some of the most beautiful places on Walt Disney World property, no Park ticket required. You can pick the Skyliner up at Hollywood Studios, the International Gateway at the back entrance of Epcot, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach Resort, and The Riviera.
