The students of our world today who are currently at school and university are the children of Generation X, the cohort that follows Generation Y, and who are born between 1995 and 2009. They are Generation Z.
Psychologist Jean Twenge defines millennials as those born 1980–1994. CNN reports that studies often use 1981–1996 to define millennials, but sometimes list 1980–2000.
The term Generation Alpha refers to the group of individuals born between 2010 and 2025. This is the generation after Gen Z.
That is why the generations today each span 15 years with Generation Y (Millennials) born from 1980 to 1994; Generation Z from 1995 to 2009 and Generation Alpha from 2010 to 2024.
The Oxford Learner's Dictionaries describes Gen Z as "the group of people who were born between the late 1990s and the early 2010s". The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines Generation Z as "the generation of people born in the late 1990s and early 2000s."
Generation Alpha (or Gen Alpha for short) is the demographic cohort succeeding Generation Z. Researchers and popular media use the early 2010s as starting birth years and the mid-2020s as ending birth years.

They “zoomed” to the stores with their disposable income and financially stable lifestyles. Unlike the generation before them, Baby Boomers were much more vibrant and busy, hence the name “Zoomer.” However, as a need for Gen Z to have a name of its own grew, this word was repurposed.

Millennials. In October 2004, the researchers Neil Howe and William Strauss called Millennials “the next great generation,” which is funny. They define the group as “those born in 1982 and approximately the 20 years thereafter.” In 2012, they affixed the end point as 2004.
Generation Z refers to the generation born between 1997-2012, following millennials. Gen Z will soon become the largest cohort of consumers—and brands who want a piece of this opportunity will need to understand their tendencies and digital expectations.
While 75% of millennials say they're avoiding phone calls because they're too time-consuming, there's an even bigger reason they don't like to talk on the phone. It turns out that, according to BankMyCell, 81% of millennials get apprehension anxiety “before summoning the courage to make a call.”
When someone calls, we have to switch gears quickly, wrenching our focus away from whatever we were doing — and when you're deep in thought, like most introverts spend their days, that's really irritating.
Gen Z has discovered an amazing new use for smartphones — making calls.
Gen Y: Gen Y, or Millennials, were born between 1981 and 1994/6. They are currently between 25 and 40 years old (72.1 million in the U.S.) Gen Y. 1 = 25-29 years old (around 31 million people in the U.S.)
Phone anxiety – or telephobia – is the fear and avoidance of phone conversations and it's common among those with social anxiety disorder. Having a hatred of your phone doesn't necessarily mean you have phone anxiety, although the two can be related.
4. They Don't Multitask While on the Phone. Whether it's a restaurant or a bank, never conduct business while talking on the telephone. This is rude to the person on the line, and to the person trying to provide services.
Recognised as an offshoot of social anxiety disorder, telephobia afflicts people across countries and generations. Those who suffer from telephobia might be comfortable delivering a talk in a room full of strangers or might send dozens of text messages a day, but get shivers when they need to talk on the phone.
